Get To Know Me Tag

25 kinda random Questions to get to know me a little bit :)

1. How old are you? Twenty-Two! My birthday is June 3rd.

2. Where are you from? I was born, raised and still live in, the South East of England :)

3. Are you named after anyone? Yes! My mum wanted Laura because of Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie. My parents picked a couple names each but couldn't decide, so my cousin actually picked Laura out of a hat! Also, my middle name Hazel was the name of my Nan's mum

4. What's your favourite colour? It changes sometimes because I really like all colours, but as you might be able to tell from my blog, my favourite colour(s) are orange & teal at the moment! I'm also really into pastels.

5. Who was your first best friend? My first best friend is still my best friend! Her name is Jade and we met in Year 1 at school in the playground. We ended up going to different secondary schools and universities, but if we don't get the time to see each other for a while, when we do it's as if we never spent time apart

6. How tall are you? 5ft, not even 5ft 1 inch!

7. What's your favourite animal? I'm a huge animal lover, but I always say dogs are my favourite, probably because I had a poodle named Barnaby from the age of 8 until he passed away this year (rip ) and he had the same birthday as me! He was awesome

8. Do you have any kids? Nope! I'm only 22 and don't feel ready to have kids right now. I feel like 30 would be a good age for me, but who knows what the future holds? I definitely want some, but just not yet.

9. How many countries have you visited? 4 - I've been to Wales, France, Germany and Majorca. If I had a lot of money, I'd love to travel all over the world. My holiday to Majorca with my friends when I was 18 wasn't really enjoyable for me. I want to explore and go sight-seeing, not drink by the pool and sunbathe on the beach.

10. Have you/would you ever do a bungee jump? I never have and I'm petrified of heights! I would like to do a sky-dive but for some reason a bungee jump seems more scary- I don't know why! Maybe because when I'd do a sky-dive I'd have a professional attached to me!

11. What is the first thing you notice about people? Human beings are actually wired to look at a person's face first, but following that I also look at what they're wearing (not to judge it, I just like to look at people's style) and always look at a person's lips and smile.

12. What is your eye colour? Hazel, just like my middle name! So my eyes are mainly brown but have some green in them towards the bottom :)

13. Do you like scary movies? "I'll gut you like a fish!" - Any guesses as to where this quote comes from? My mum and I actually love watching scary movies together!

14. Summer or Winter? Definitely Summer! Although I love Christmas, because I get to spend lots of time with my family (and get presents!), I hate being cold and I prefer how bright and colourful the world looks when it's sunny outside!

15. Computer or TV? Computer for sure. Not only can I watch lots of TV on it, but I like how creative I can be on the computer. I love to write stories and I can access the world via the internet, gather inspiration, educate myself, and share things with other people - plus I can play games on it :P

16. Favourite Movie? I struggle to find "favourites" of things since my interests and tastes are so broad, but a film that always comes to mind when I'm asked this question is Ten Things I Hate About You. It was definitely my favourite growing up and of course stars the amazing, incomparable, handsome Heath Ledger (rip ♥).

17. Do you have any siblings? Nope! I'm a (lonely) only child haha

18. Have you gone to/are you going to University? I did go to University for 1 Year to study Psychology and Mental Health, but it just wasn't for me and the course turned out to not be what I expected, so I passed my first year exams and then decided to leave. Now I'm completing an online course in Interior Design :)

19. What is your favourite perfume? I included this in my September Favourites post, which you can read here! :)

20. Tea or Coffee? Tea! (and not just because I'm English! haha) I don't like flavoured teas like chamomile or green tea etc, but I actually hate coffee! I don't like the smell or taste of anything coffee flavoured.

21. Do you play any sports & if so, what? I don't currently play any sports, but as a kid and into my mid-teens, I did Gymnastics! I was no Olympian, but I really enjoyed it - especially when I got to practice using the Trampoline!

22. How many languages do you speak? Only one... I only speak English, but do know a few words or phrases from others. I've always found it really difficult to learn languages, but I'd love to be fluent in more.

23. PC or Mac? I've always had a PC, so I'm just used to them now and really like them. In sixth form we had Macs in my media studies class and I hated them and their rainbow ring of doom!

24. What's your favourite genre of film? It's definitely a toss-up between comedy or horror. They're the two that I always gravitate towards when choosing a film and it depends what kind of mood I'm in when I decide.

25. How would you describe your fashion sense? All over the place! I don't really have an exact style I always go for. I'm just really into fashion and creativity, so I'm attracted to all different styles. I always dress depending on my mood or what kind of event I'm going to; I like to experiment and try new things so I'm always looking at different fashions and looking for new places to buy from :) If you have any suggestions of places you love, feel free to leave a comment below!

Thank you for reading and I hope you got to know me a little better

See you in the next post!

Preparing for Autumn/Fall: Outerwear Edition

Following on from my previous post, I'll be going over some key clothing items for your autumn/fall wardrobe, looking at different stores, styles, and prices, as well as providing links to where you can purchase the items shown.

First, here are a few tips:

Autumnal Colours
When it comes to fashion and decor, it's always good to take inspiration from nature. In the autumn, nature is changing and has a very specific colour-scheme. The grass is darker and more dull, the sky is more grey, and the trees are boasting a variety of brown, orange, red and green leaves.

If you're not confident in your colour choices, I'd stick to these colours and keep them quite muted. Bright colours can look great for autumn but can be too contrasting to the environment and be off-putting to the eye.

Coats & Jackets.
Autumn is a great time to crack out your favourite coats. As the weather changes between warm and cold, you'll have a lot of varied options to choose from.

Bomber Jackets are great for when the day is still pretty warm but with a slight breeze. Most are quite thin fabrics, but others are thicker that you could easily transition into the evening.

Kimonos are thin, but great for layering or shielding you from the chill if you're going somewhere special.

Blazers are just a fancy coat! They can instantly add sophistication to any outfit and keep you reasonably warm when the autumn breeze starts rolling in.

Faux Fur Coats are a very stylish and classy item that'll certainly keep you warm and give a luxurious feel to your outfit.

Leather Jackets are a great piece to transition from day to night. They're effortlessly stylish and although some can be a bit thick and bulky, it's also easy to find ones that are a thinner material. They'll be great during the day if there's a chill/easy to carry if it warms up a bit, then they're perfect to wear at night when it's a lot cooler.

Raincoats are actually becoming a popular item to wear. They're often a thin material and lightweight but easy to wrap up in and usually give extra room for layers underneath. The one I bought at a festival is one of my favourite coats at the moment since it keeps me warm, has a hood, and can easily be tied around my waist as it isn't bulky at all.

Denim Jackets are always a fashion staple. They're great for casual looks and add a different texture and more interest to your outfit.

Macs are a classic and stylish piece that look great with pretty much every outfit. They're great to wear in cooler and more drizzly weather as well, and although they have buttons, they usually also have a tie round the waist that can give your body more definition when you're wearing more layers.

Parkas are a simple and easy to wear piece that are a thick material, perfect for keeping you warm.

Long Coats are very in-style right now and you can find them at basically any store, either IRL or online. They come in varying fabrics and are in usually very sophisticated cuts and styles.

Duster Coats are very light but very long, so are a great lightweight option to shield you from the cold. They are also very stylish and sleek, so can be worn both day and night.

Cardigans & Jumpers

Cardigans are a great layering piece as you can usually wear them open or closed up with buttons. They can be worn casually or in a more formal setting and come in varying fabrics and styles.

Jumpers/Sweaters are always an effortless way to style your outfit. You can use them as a layering piece or wear them without a jacket if the weather is decent. Unlike a cardigan, you don't need to worry about whether your top underneath it matches or not, so they're an easy item to throw on in a rush.

Hoodies are a kind of happy medium between cardigans and jumpers, but are definitely a casual piece. They come either with a zip so it can be opened, or closed like a jumper. They also have hoods and large pockets.

Preparing for Autumn/Fall: Accessories Edition

Although we've still been having some pretty hot days on and off here in the UK, we've definitely been getting colder evenings and a lot more drizzle - even a thunderstorm not long ago!

So it's time to start getting collecting clothes, accessories & home-ware for this autumnal season. As it starts to get colder, hats, coats and scarves will slowly become your best friends to keep warm as the rain and cool breezes arrive.

This post will focus on accessories and I'll be listing a variety of things from different places, as well as providing links as to where you can purchase them if they strike your fancy!

Hats.
Berets are always a classic, cute and feminine piece that'll never really go out of style. They're a lightweight option that you can rock all year round.

Beanies are a soft and cosy way of keeping your head warm. They come in a variety of colours and patterns so there's a lot to choose from!

Wide-Brim Hats are a stylish addition to any outfit and come in different styles that can compliment both casual and more formal outfits.

Caps are really in fashion right now and are a perfect option to transition from summer to autumn. Again coming in a wide variety of colours, patterns and graphics, they look great with any casual look or can be used to dress-down your outfit.

Bucket hats are kinda like marmite; you other love them or hate them. They've actually been pretty in style lately (especially for men), and I think they're pretty cute.

Headbands are also a perfectly acceptable option if you want something easy to pack away that'll still keep you warm.

Scarves.
In the colder months, scarves are a great addition to your outfit; not only do they keep you warm but they can also be very stylish.

They come in a variety of textures, patterns, materials and colours so it's easy-enough to find ones to compliment your outfits. A great pattern for scarves in the autumn is tartan or plaid, which is great because it's very popular right now!

Tights/Socks
In the autumn, tights and long socks are a great option when you want to keep rocking your favourite skirt/dress/shorts without freezing your legs!

Autumn is a perfect time to experiment with your tights and socks, taking advantage of the different colours and patterns you can choose from. Perfect colours to try out during the autumn are plum; brown; of course black; and grey. You can also have crack at some tartan tights/socks when they're paired down with neutral colours and plain patterns.

Gloves.
You might not necessarily need gloves during the autumn, but they're obviously the only way to keep your hands warm unless you have some pockets (and we both know women's clothes often lack pockets! WTF is the point of fake pockets?!)

Wool gloves aren't your only option; you can also buy leather ones. Leather gloves are very classic and stylish, and brown ones look great in the autumn, complimenting autumnal palettes.

Bags.
There's a ton of bag options to pick from all year round, but shoulder bags and backpacks are the most ideal during the autumn as both are easy to carry when you're wearing more or thicker layers.

Backpacks can easily carry items such as the extra layers of scarves, hats and gloves you may be wearing and they'll distribute the weight evenly, making it easier to carry. Furthermore, shoulder bags may be able to carry less than a backpack, but are lightweight and still able to carry your essentials as well as a beanie or pair of gloves.

ASOS

Image 1 of ASOS Wool BeretImage 1 of ASOS HALLOWEEN Cat Beanie With Glow In The Dark WhiskersImage 1 of ASOS Supersoft Long Woven ScarfImage 1 of Jack Wills Oversized Check Scarf

a. Reds and oranges are key autumn colours and a bright red beret will look great with almost any colour palette. You can purchase this beret here!

b. This cute cat-eared beanie is a fun piece perfect for the autumn; it even has glow in the dark whiskers! It'll definitely keep your head and ears nice and warm as well as being a playful and Halloween-inspired addition to your look. You can buy it here

c. Along with red and orange colours, plum is a great colour to try out and rock in the autumn months. This long woven scarf is plain and simple so can be paired nicely with any other textures or patterns whilst still injecting some subtle colour into your look. You can buy it here!

d. This last scarf is more expensive than the others, but there are plenty of other tartan scarves out there to choose from- I just like how soft and cosy it looks to wear. You can buy this particular one here!

ROMWE

Yellow Ribbed Raw Edge ScarfBlack Simple Baseball CapCoffee Vintage Large Brimmed HatGreen Drawstring Flap Nylon Backpack

a. This bright yellow ribbed scarf is a great way to keep your autumn look bright and cheery; carrying the last rays of the summer sun with you! This scarf can easily be worn as a shawl as well if it's too hot for a coat but chilly enough to need some extra warmth (multi-functional)! You can purchase it here!

b. A simple baseball cap may not be the best option for warmth, but it'll add style to your outfit and keep your eyes more safe from the last bits of sun that are peeping through. You can buy this one here!

c. A vintage-style brown hat like this one will compliment any autumnal outfit and add a classy edge to your look. Vintage styles are very popular in the autumn, so have a look around for some great finds in thrift/charity shops. If you like this one however, you can buy it here!

d. This muted green backpack is great for autumn. It's not only a great colour for this season, but also great to carry your extras. If you like this backpack, you can purchase it here!

DOLLSKILL

Betsey Johnson Puppy Crossbody BagJinx Top HatKickin It Thigh High Socks

a. Shoulder bags are great for the autumn when your outfit is a bit more bulky, and who said you can't still have fun with your look? This 'doggy bag' is a fun statement and a great way to show your personality if your autumnal outfit is more neutral and paired-down. You can buy it here!

b. Again, why not have a bit of fun with your style? This top hat can not only keep your head warm, but it injects some personality to your outfit. If you like this, you can buy it here and accessorise it with some funky steampunk goggles like these!

c. Over the knee socks are perfect if you want to keep your legs warm but don't like the often uncomfortable feel and fit of tights. Simple socks like this are great because they're in a neutral colour that fits the autumn but create interest in the lined pattern at the top. If these socks look like they're your thing, you can purchase them here!

TOPSHOP

a. This backpack is a loud pattern but yet still muted- doesn't make sense right? A leopard pattern on anything is often a statement, but the darkness of this bag allows it to add interest to your outfit without being too much This is also a good option if you want to step out of your comfort zone with something more daring but not too in your face. If this seems like a good option for you, you can buy it here!

b. Hey, a bucket hat isn't for everyone, but I can't act like they don't exist! I think they're pretty cute and a great option if you want to be a bit different. They often come in more neutral, dark colours and patterns or with a graphic on the front, and if you like the one pictured above, you can buy it here!

c. This scarf is pretty much the epitome of everything I've already said; a tartan pattern that contains charcoal, orange-brown, grey and red- perfect! If you like it, you can buy it here!

d. If you want something that'll keep your ears warm but is easy to fold up and shove in your bag/pocket, a headband like this is perfect for you. Easy to style and carry around, never forget that hats aren't always your only option. This 'Ivy Park' one from Topshop's Beyonce collab can be bought here!

NEW LOOK

a. Burgundy is another great colour for autumn as it mixes red, plum and brown tones. If you think this stylish handbag with additional shoulder strap is for you, you can purchase it here!

b. This backpack is may not be as large and therefore practical as others, but like a shoulder bag, it can still carry your essential items; it'll just be less hassle to carry than a shoulder bag that might keep falling off your shoulder or keep tapping against your leg as you walk around. You can buy this one with a faux fur and chain detail here!

c. Fur (faux of course) often screams 'winter!' but a darker burgundy colour is perfect for this season as it ties in a lot of autumnal colours. This kind of faux fur scarf is great to dress up a coat and still keep yourself warm. You can purchase this one here!

d. If you just want to carry your essentials, a 'fanny pack' is a great option, plus it's small and keeps your hands free. If you're not that keen on this style of bag, they're easy to conceal in the autumn since you may be wearing a bulky jumper or coat that it can easily fit under. You can buy this more stylish, quilted one here!

MISS SELFRIDGE

a. This scarf is a lot lighter than the one from Topshop and has the same great colour palette. So if a lighter style is what you'd prefer, you can buy this scarf here!

b. This beret is a lot more muted than the red one from ASOS but still adds and impact with the small stars dotted around it for some interest. If this more understated beret is more your style, you can get it here!

c. A fedora is always a classic and can be dressed-up or down. This one is a light grey that will look lovely as part of an autumnal outfit, and is accented with a simple black band. You can buy it here!

d. This 'aztec' print shoulder bag with fringe is perfect for autumn. It's neutral but has an interesting pattern and the fringe is very western. You can also easily tuck the strap in to use it as a clutch if you'd like (shown in the picture above). You can purchase this bag here!

RIVER ISLAND

a. If you're the type to match your purse to your bag, this two-tone brown purse could be a perfect find for you in the autumn. It's suede on one side and leather on the other (faux of course) and has a lot of space for your cards. If this takes your fancy, you can get it here!

b. This colour-block scarf incorporates dark colours, including a nice almost burnt orange, and a pop of brightness with white. If you feel like autumnal fashion is a bit too dark and dreary for you, this scarf will be a great addition to your wardrobe to keep it a bit bright while still fitting the autumn colour scheme. You can purchase it here!

c. Finally, these gloves are a perfect match of both wool and leather. They're still classy, with the leather fingers poking out from under your coat or jumper, but add extra warmth with the addition of wool around the wrists. If these mix-and-match textured gloves are what you're looking for, you can buy them here!

That's all for this one folks!

I hope you found this helpful and found some great items to add to your wardrobe for the coming autumn. I'll continue this series with more autumnal themed items, including different clothing items and home decor.

Stay tuned!
